Dean Ginsberg, Founder at ShuttleHome

"I rented the bus on an impulse and if I didn’t sell all the tickets, I was screwed."

I booked a flight home from Oberlin College for Thanksgiving Break and they oversold the flight. I spent Thanksgiving in the airport that year fuming, and came up with the idea to turn our horrible travel day into a road trip home with friends.

I rented a bus off the internet, printed tickets off of MS Word, painted a sign, and sold tickets one by one in the school quad.

It made no sense to me that we spent all of our money on separate cabs to separate flights from the same campus to the same city.

There was literally zero vision. I rented the bus on an impulse and if I didn’t sell all the tickets, I was screwed.

College is a time to explore yourself and define your own identity, but just when you’re on the verge of figuring it out, most people have to graduate into the “real world”. ShuttleHome gave me the autonomy and the confidence to define success on my own terms and pursue the things that I truly value from a young age.

ShuttleHome is a community-based transportation company that provides students with coach bus service directly from their college campus to their city during school breaks from 1/3 the cost of flying.
